Smoking at work - the end of the road?
With the introduction of a UK wide smoking ban expected in the near future, we examine the current position in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and consider the steps that employers should be taking now, to ensure compliance with the new legislation.

  • As you can see, Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland are all at different stages in the implementation process. If you have offices throughout the United Kingdom, you will need to be aware of the deadlines for impementation throughout the country, and of the steps that you will need to take to comply with the various laws.




  • With a ban likely to be implemented throughout the United Kingdom, it may be wise to begin to take the step of implementing a smoke free enviroment now, ahead of the legislation.



  • The deadline for implementation in Scotland is 26 March 2006. If you have a business premises in Scotland you should prepare now to ensure compliance before the legislation comes into force.
