We have chosen Pancreatic Cancer Scotland as our Charity of the Year 2017 in order to raise as much money as we can for Pancreatic Cancer Scotland, and to raise as much awareness of the condition as possible.
Just 1.4% of cancer research funding currently goes to Pancreatic Cancer and the number of new cases of Pancreatic Cancer in Scotland is expected to increase by almost 50% by 2027. Pancreatic Cancer currently has just a 4% survival rate, yet it is the 5th most common cancer in Scotland.
Early diagnosis gives patients the best chance of survival, so better awareness of Pancreatic Cancer is vital – both for the public and amongst healthcare professionals.
Our fundraising efforts during 2017 focused on the Just Employment Law Summer Ball, which took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on Saturday 17 June 2017. With Des Clarke hosting our evening and a special appearance from Tam Cowan as our auctioneer, the evening was a huge success, and we managed to raise £56,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Scotland. We gave away a number of fantastic prizes on the night to our very deserving guests including, in association with Park's Motor Group, a brand new Dacia Sandero Ambiance!
In relation to our Summer Ball, our Managing Director, David McRae, commented:
“On behalf of all at JEL, I extend my most sincere thanks to the many hundreds of people and businesses who supported our recent Charity event. We are proud to support such a worthy and underfunded cause having appointed Pancreatic Cancer Scotland as our Charity of the Year for 2017. They do fabulous work to raise awareness of this terrible condition and to help support those in need. The Summer Ball was hopefully enjoyed by all in attendance with entertainment, raffles, auctions, a live car giveaway and a fantastic band. We are genuinely delighted to have played a small part in helping the Charity achieve some of their aims. On 17th June 2017, the colour was most certainly Purple for Pancreatic Cancer Scotland.”
We are so very grateful to all who have supported our fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Scotland and we have included below a full list of all those who kindly donated prizes . Together, we can make a difference and find more survivors!
