Increase to Statutory Payment Rates from April 2023

The Department for Work and Pensions has now published the annual increase to statutory payment rates for the 2023 to 2024 tax year.

The rate for statutory maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental and parental bereavement pay, and maternity allowance, will increase from £156.66 per week to £172.48 per week.

Statutory sick pay will also increase from £99.35 per week to £109.40 per week.

These rate increases are in addition to the recently announced increase to the national minimum wage and national living wage rates, which are as follows:

  • Over 23 years old (National Living Wage) – from £9.50 per hour to £10.42 per hour
  • Between 21 and 22 years old – from £9.18 per hour to £10.18 per hour
  • Between 18 and 20 years old – from £6.83 per hour to £7.49 per hour
  • Between 16 and 17 years old – from £4.81 per hour to £5.28 per hour
  • Apprentices – from £4.81 per hour to £5.28 per hour

All of these changes will take effect from April 2023.
