  • Consultation on these proposals closes on 18 April 2006.
  • Start planning for how your organisation will cope with the increased financial and administrative burdens of these new laws. You can expect longer average periods of maternity leave and more applications for flexible working.
  • Think about how you might use “Keeping In Touch” days and how you might help employees keep up to date with developments during their periods of statutory leave. The government is keen to promote communication between employers and employees during these periods – the key is to make the communication as effective as possible.
