Charity and Sponsorship
Our permanent charity partner is Pancreatic Cancer Action Scotland.
We took the decision to permanently partner with Pancreatic Cancer Action Scotland from 2020 onwards as they work towards making the 2020’s the decade of change for pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer has the lowest 5-year survival rate of the 22 most common cancers, largely due to late diagnosis. Our aim has always been to raise as much awareness of, and proceeds for, Pancreatic Cancer Action Scotland, as possible.
We host a summer ball for PCAS every two years, traditionally at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow, with compere Des Clarke and auctioneer Tam Cowan. Our first two summer balls, in 2017 and 2019, raised over £56,000 and £82,000 respectively for the charity. After an extended break, our third summer ball took place in June 2023 and raised over £120,000.

With entertainment from singer songwriter Marty Bryson, Just Employment Law’s very own Angela Renwick, Glasgow’s Piano Man John Rankin and Waterfront event band, the 2023 summer ball was a huge success and an enjoyable evening for all in attendance. One lucky guest took home the £5000 star prize on the evening, with many other guests also leaving with prizes under their arms.
We thank each and every person who supported our event, either through attending on the night or supporting in other ways, whether as a supplier, a donor or simply by sharing our social media posts.

In addition to our summer ball event, over the years we have been involved in other fundraising and awareness initiatives on behalf of our charity partners.
In November 2019 we hosted our first “Purple Thistle Day” at our sponsored club, Partick Thistle FC’s home game versus Greenock Morton FC, with over 60 friends, family and associates of both Just Employment Law and Pancreatic Cancer Scotland attending hospitality for the day with a purple theme throughout – supported by the Club’s players, management, backroom staff and the Club’s mascot, Kingsley!
In 2020, with the global pandemic forcing us into lockdown on more than one occasion, it was clear that the charity required even more support to raise funds and awareness of pancreatic cancer. With the support of our sponsored team Partick Thistle FC, we organised a second Purple Thistle Day which, although sadly could not be attended by us or our guests, helped to raise awareness of the condition.
We also hosted an online auction in November 2020, ending on World Pancreatic Cancer Day, where we auctioned off some 200 plus prizes. By doing so, we raised a further £31,500 for the charity.
Our team also participated in the annual Kiltwalk for PCAS in 2020 helping to raise further funds for the charity.
A proud moment for us was the launch of the new special edition goalkeeper kit from Partick Thistle FC, who we were the principal sponsor for during their 2021/22 campaign. The eye-catching purple goalkeeper kit carried the logo of Pancreatic Cancer Action Scotland, and was worn by the Jags’ goalkeepers throughout the season.
In 2021 we were able to return to Firhill in person for our third Purple Thistle Day at the end of October that year, at Thistle’s game against Inverness Caledonian Thistle. The day was held, once again, to raise awareness and further funds, with Thistle’s players wearing purple t-shirts, mascots bedecked in the charity’s purple colours and supporters of the charity attending the game for a day of entertainment
During Pancreatic Cancer awareness month in 2021 we raised £73,000 for the charity from an online auction, which ended on 18 November (World Pancreatic Cancer Day).
We are very proud that our total raised for Pancreatic Cancer Action Scotland to date now stands at over £380,000. We will not sit back however, as we aim to build on this and the work undertaken thus far in helping raise awareness of this very worthy cause and look forward to substantially adding to this fundraising total in years to come.
