It has been announced that the NMW will increase from 1st October 2015.
From that date, the standard rate (for adult workers, aged 20 or over) will rise from £6.50 to £6.70 per hour.
The development rate (for workers aged between 18 and 20) will rise from £5.13 to £5.30 per hour.
The young workers rate (for workers aged under 18 but above the compulsory school leaver age) will rise from £3.79 to £3.87 per hour.
Perhaps the most significant rise, however, relates to apprentices who will see an increase of 57p per hour, taking the apprentice rate up to £3.30 per hour from 1 October 2015. This increase reflects the government’s bid to make apprenticeships more financially attractive for younger people.
