The Chancellor has announced that a new national living wage of £7.20 per hour will be introduced for workers aged 25 or over from April 2016. This is a significant increase on the current national minimum wage of £6.50 per hour, which applies to workers aged 21 or over.
The national living wage will be increased to £9.00 per hour by 2020.
The national minimum wage will continue to apply in relation to workers under 25.
