The fatal accident inquiry into the tragic bin lorry crash that killed six people in Glasgow last year is currently ongoing. Press reports suggest the driver of the bin lorry, Mr Harry Clarke (58), lost consciousness just before the crash took place on 22 December and that he had failed to disclose relevant medical information to his employer, Glasgow City Council.

Mr Clarke was taken on by the Council in January 2011 initially to drive a mini bus for disabled school children. Although it would seem that the Council asked Mr Clarke to complete a health questionnaire before taking him on, it appears Mr Clarke did not disclose his history of fainting and the Council did not ask to see his medical records before recruiting him, or at any time during his employment.
