The government first published ‘An employer’s guide to right to work checks’ in May 2014.

As we reported in our email update 166, this guidance was updated in July 2014. It has since been updated again(!) in December 2014.

It is important that employers are aware of, and follow, the guidance with a view to minimising particular risks to the business, particularly given the potential fines of up to £20,000 per employee in the event of a breach.
