Recently, the government has announced an on-line service for the payment of employment tribunal fees and a number of increases to employment law rates.
The new service will be introduced in July 2013. This suggests that tribunal fees, as profiled in previous updates, may be introduced at that point.
A number of increases to employment law rates will be effective from 1 February 2013. Amongst these are:
- The maximum limit for Statutory Guarantee Payments will increase from £23.50 a day (subject to an overall maximum of five days or £117.50 in any three months) to £24.20 a day (subject to an overall maximum of five days or £121 in any three months).
- A week's gross pay for the purposes of calculating a Statutory Redundancy Payment will increase from £430 to £450.
- The statutory cap for the compensatory award in ordinary unfair dismissal cases will increase from £72,300 to £74,200.
