It has been recently reveiled that following Lord Justice Underhill's review of the existing rules of procedure from last year, new employment tribunal rules are due to come into force on 29 July 2013, to coincide with the introduction of fees in the employment tribunal.

The new rules will include the insertion of a procedure for striking out an appeal for non-payment of any tribunal fee payable. The new rules will also provide for an initial 'sift' of claims to prevent cases where the tribunal has no jurisdiction to hear the cases from proceeding, and encourage a move towards greater emphasis on mediation as a dispute resolution tool.
